Amnesia Mole by ADRUNNOGNT

Bio

Earth is filled with layers over layers. Moles enjoy digging in the earth, deeper and deeper, until they become amnesia. Frogs are consumed by snakes, making their last calls to the universe, and we are all consumed by this whole thing we keep creating in our heads.

The installation compiles sound recordings from Wonderfruit’s vast land during 2019 and 2022. Delivered by a multiplex network of speakers, sounds from different places, such as lakes, wet land, wind, birds, architecture, site work, and trees, are drawn into a host structure. Inside, experience a symphonic combination of all the sourced sounds, then approaching closer to each outlet to investigate the sounds from specific sources. Familiar and strange vibrations intermix to create a new language we can observe together.

Arnont Nongyao is a seasoned media artist based in Chiang Mai. His work has a strong interest in vibrations and research into the connectivity between human beings, objects, situations and society. He always involves specific space and audience participation, and this experimental project emphasizes the mode of listening and hearing in a social situation and how people interact with and participate in a soundscape. Nguyen Ngoc Tu Dung, from Vietnam, is developing her practice in filmmaking and mixed media art.
