Ancestral Tree Bark Dyeing Research & Dyeing by Mae Sa-ard & Duke
Join Mae Sa-ard, our first indigo grandma, to explore colors made from tree bark and discover the colors derived from Wonderfruit’s Ancestral Forest with Duke. In this session, you will be invited to dye some old clothes or blanks in Pradu (rosewood) dye. This is a cold dye process practiced by artisans and space is limited for this session.
Mae Sa-ard is the head of the Baan Dong Siew Weaving and Dyeing Co-op, and she has been weaving and dyeing indigo for over 40 years.
Duke has a background in cultural geography. He has worked closely with artisans for Philip Huang’s palette research, development and production for five years.
