Limebócx
Limebócx is a duo from Hanoi, Vietnam. With Chuối on Đàn Tranh (Vietnamese traditional long zither), bass and vocals, and Đờ Tùng on guitar and synth, they incorporate diverse materials and sounds, between the east and west, old and new, acoustic and electronic.
By taking elements of modern musical genres such as hip hop, beatboxing, electronica and dub, and combining them with traditional Vietnamese music, folk and poetry, Limebócx has managed to create a sound that is entirely their own. Longing to express music in their most natural way, Limebócx’s way of blending traditional Vietnamese sounds into modern music represents freedom without being pigeonholed into any specific genre or rules. The sound of ca tru (musical storytelling), xam, quan họ (folk music) are flexibly used, which audiences feel familiarised with, yet wowed by Limebócx’s creative way of giving them a different vibe.
Limebócx has performed on various stages, namely the artist residency programs #com() and Boogie Namie Boog in Gwangju in South Korea, Hoi Festival in Da Lat, and their solo performance at VCCA.
