A Declaration of Plantasia: MSCTY_Studio ft. NoahMSCTY_Studio x Noah

Mort Garson’s pioneering album Mother Earth’s Plantasia was produced electronically on synthesizers in 1976, creating sounds that plants would like to hear. The record has since gained cult status as a pioneering piece of electronic music history, being sampled by hip hop legends Pharcyde in 2000 and winning fans across the musical spectrum for its mix of flippant melodies, complex rapid chord progressions and primitive electronica beats.

Taking on the Ancestral Forest’s theme of celebrating and Declaring The Plants, MSCTY_Studio have reimagined the entire record, recreating it from the perspective of this forest, using only sound samples collected during a research trip in September 2023, giving a lo-fi, off-kilter and woozy new voice to the musical themes of Mother Earth’s Plantasia.

Japanese musician and singer Noah joins for a one-off live performance in the fields, adding in spoken word, vocals and extra synth layers that contribute to give the full radio-cinemaphonic experience.
