Ambient Bamboo: MSCTY_Studio x Takeshi Nishimoto
In a special performance paying homage to the Ancestral Forest, MSCTY_Studio and Takeshi Nishimoto will blend ambient, globally infused guitar textures with electronically processed recordings to dive into their musical interpretation of the sound world of bamboo: a plant
[Interestingly, it is classed as a grass rather than a tree], which grows abundantly in and is synonymous with Nishimoto’s native Japan.
Forging a link with A Declaration of Plants, the performance pays homage to the variety and texture of The Fields’ natural resources for sound, with Thailand’s natural rainforests’ 50+ native varieties of bamboo forming a shared sonic-ancestral link through the forest.
MSCTY_Studio’s contributions will comprise only of processed source materials recorded in a large bamboo forest—Wakayama Farm—about two hours north of Tokyo, and references the segmented structure of bamboo trees, the way that water flows through them, and of course, their well-loved percussive qualities.
