Sombat Simla

Sombat Simla is a khene/แคน (bamboo mouth organ) player living in Mahasarakham province of Isaan, Thailand. Sombat has been a public figure of Molam music. Born in Borabue, Maha Sarakham province, in 1963, he was exposed to Molam music at an early age. His father is a khaen master and his mother a Molam singer. He learned both the khaen and the sor (Isan fiddle) and accompanied singers by age 14. Since then, he has been in constant demand and is now widely regarded as one of Thailand's greatest khaen players, garnering the nickname 'The God of Khaen'.
