YAAN (ญาณ), a group made up of various local musicians from around Thailand, is consistently searching and experimenting for new sounds created from different acoustic instruments from across the globe. YAAN brings songs to its listeners. Even the most intricate rhythms and melodies in their songs often give way to open musical communication and improvisation take the helm. YAAN combines a type of organic music, deeply drenched in cultural heritage and ancient mysticism, with modern-day electronics. Electronic looping and dub effects bring instruments like the sitar, congas, violin, Thai khan, African kora, bansuri, modular synth and 70s psych guitar to new levels; locking them into automatic electronic rhythms or breaking them out of their rhythms into a vast ocean of sound.
