Open Reel Ensemble

Open Reel Ensemble uses reel-to-reel tape recorders as ‘magnetic folk instruments’. Inspired by a vision of a Magentikpunk world, where technology has evolved far beyond reality, the Japanese band manipulates reels and audio instruments to create rhythms and melodies.

Earning acclaim for their unique style and sound, they have performed at international festivals like Sónar, Ars Electronica and MUTEK Montréal. They have also created music for four seasons of ISSEY MIYAKE’s Paris Collection.
