Based on their collaboration with Sonic Lab, at Japan’s Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, MSCTY Studio’s Ryukyu Sound Bath brings a thick refreshing, immersive shower of sound to Polygon’s dynamic sonic architecture – composed entirely from processed field recordings based in and around the subtropical paradise of Okinawa.
Following the rhythm of the daily maritime cycle that nourishes and replenishes the Ryukyu (Okinawa) islands, it features the songs of local birds including the native flightless Yambaru kuina, the songs of coral, lapping waves, and more, merging with the ebb and flow of coordinated lighting.
The live sound installation relates to the Sonic Minds attributes of truthfulness and patience as we learn to listen and hear the world around us with renewed perspective through focus and mindfulness.
