The Grower
By Dusadee Huntrakul
The Grower, a bronze sculpture with a terracotta-like patina, sits on a rock at the north entrance of Open Kitchen, symbolizing a symbiotic relationship between life forms. Trumpet-like mushrooms sprout from its body, while feces on the androgynous head highlight the cycle of consumption, waste and regeneration.
The sculpture now hosts insects and small creatures, leaving colorful marks as they build cocoons in its concaves, leaving colorful excreted marks around its head.
