As Wonderfruit evolves into a year-round cultural platform, we continue our series of special experiences in Bangkok and beyond.
On Friday 3 October, we invite you to an evening at Bangkok 1899, a cultural and civic hub in Nang Loeng, for the penultimate event of Bangkok’s inaugural Climate Action Week.
The night unfolds in three chapters—meditation, performance and connection—each celebrating collaboration and unexpected experience by clashing cultures, genres and disciplines.
This event is free to attend with advance application.
5.00pm | Live Plant Music Meditation (limited capacity)
The evening begins with a guided meditation by Indonesian electronic duo Bottlesmoker, who use living plants as instruments to create a calming soundscape that explores our connection to nature, sound, and each other.
Limited to 30 participants—apply here
7.15pm | Live Performance *Doors open at 6pm with live Chatri musicians
Ancestral Currents is anchored by a debut live performance of Bottlesmoker x Tontrakul, coinciding with the release of their forthcoming collaborative EP. Drawing from archival recordings collected by ethnomusicologists, ritual sounds once used in harvests and sacred ceremonies are reimagined into immersive electronic landscapes. This cross-cultural project bridges Indonesian and Thai instruments like the phin, khaen, dogdog lojor and karinding, blending ancient rhythms with contemporary textures to celebrate the evolving life of ritual sound in the modern world.
The result is a performance that invites movement, joy and connection, honoring the spiritual intensity of its source material while moving a dance floor with custom sound by Sonos Libra.
9:00pm | Afterparty with Na Projects
Linger a little longer and gather at Na Café nestled inside Bangkok 1899 to discover new connections and new (old) tunes. Hear world music from across regions, decades, genres and moods. Anyone can play, anything goes.
Presented by Bottlesmoker, Tontrakul & Friends
The evening takes over Bangkok 1899
Bangkok 1899 is a cultural and civic hub in a century-old restored heritage home in Old Town’s Nang Loeng neighborhood. Established by Creative Migration in partnership with Na Projects, the space bridges cultural and climate diplomacy to ignite community-driven action, serving as a gathering place for local and international communities.
We encourage all guests attending the event to travel there using MuvMi, an electric tuk-tuk ridesharing service. The nearest stop is ‘FREC Bangkok’ and lets you off at the alley next to Bangkok 1899.
Closing out the inaugural Bangkok Climate Week
This event is presented as part of the Creatives for Climate Action – Thailand (CCAT) Global Hub as part of the inaugural Bangkok Climate Action Week 2025 (BKKCAW). Taking place across iconic venues in Bangkok from 28 September to 4 October 2025, the annual regional climate gathering leverages public programs, the arts, exhibitions, policy labs and community-led experiments to inspire impact.
BKKCAW invites citizens, creatives, communities and institutions to come together in new ways, showcasing local leadership and collective imagination to shape a climate-safe, inclusive future for Southeast Asia.
We’re delighted to highlight the work of Na Projects
Na Projects is a social impact platform that uses food, beverage and creative spaces as tools for inclusion, sustainability and community empowerment—and they’ll be serving up zero-waste, locally-inspired refreshments all evening in their cafe and garden.
Based in Bangkok 1899, Na Projects runs Na Café: a community hub serving sustainable cuisine while providing training and employment opportunities for at-risk youth and refugee families. They also operate Bar Na, a cocktail bar featuring curated cultural cocktails that celebrate creativity, inclusivity, and mindful drinking.
Through initiatives like the Urban Refugee Kitchen, Na Projects collaborates with displaced communities to preserve culinary traditions, provide income, and create platforms for storytelling. The organization also partners with the SATI Foundation to run training programs for underserved youth, equipping them with practical skills and pathways toward brighter futures.
