In The Fields, the curated beverages we serve at our bars bring stories to life, drawing from the rich diversity of cultures around the world. To celebrate our tenth year of sharing culture through food and drink, we’re launching an open mocktail competition: the Zero Proof Challenge.

We’re inviting anyone with a passion for mixology to create a drink with zero alcohol, using locally sourced ingredients and that produces no waste.

Here are the rules of the challenge

Your drink can have a maximum ABV of 1%, which allows you to include fermented beverages with naturally occurring alcohol. You can also experiment with non-alcoholic spirits to balance flavor and the overall experience your mocktail offers. Whatever traditional flavors or culinary cultures inspire you, add that inspiration to your drink and share it with us.

Every creation must perfectly fit our Wonder Cup, which is exactly 16 fluid ounces (473ml), including with ice and dilution. Your recipe must also scale to serve Wonderers in batches of 200+. To account for this, cocktails and preparations must remain stable when stored in refrigeration for up to 72 hours.

Every fresh ingredient must grow from Thai soil, connecting your creation to the earth. These ingredients don’t have to be indigenous to the region, but should be sourced locally. Include one wild or foraged ingredient (with proper identification and safety).

Last year, we took a zero-waste approach to all bars at scale—the first time we’d ever attempted anything like that in The Fields as part of our commitment to circularity. In keeping with this, we want you to transform every scrap into something beautiful or useful. Use citrus peels as garnishes, make herb stems into syrups and draw inspiration from what would otherwise be waste.

Who can join the Zero Proof Challenge?

We’re looking for creators who craft drinks with meaning, whatever your experience level. There are no requirements or qualifications needed to join the competition.

Whether you’re a seasoned mixologist, a culinary student or a hobbyist experimenting at home, what we care about is your creativity, storytelling and passion for sourcing locally and sustainably.

Everything you need to know about taking part

Applications for the Zero Proof Challenge are open until Sunday 7 September at 11:59pm BKK (GMT+7). All submissions need to include the following:

  • Your 16-ounce recipe with precise measurements
  • A photo showcasing your creation
  • A 200-word story explaining your creation’s connection to our ethos
  • Your sustainability strategy and sourcing plan

What happens after we’ve received your applications

We’ll select ten applicants for the finals. For this in-person competition, finalists will create and present their drinks, share their story within five minutes, then let our judges experience the wonder they’ve created.

The final will take place in Bangkok, with the exact location to be confirmed at a later date.

Here’s what the winner of the Zero Proof Challenge will receive:

  • A menu feature. Your creation will be offered at every bar in The Fields (except partners’ bars).
  • Free passes. You’ll receive five 5-Day Full Passes—one for you and four to share with friends and family.
  • Behind-the-scenes access. You’ll get a private tour of our bars’ Back of House operations led by our team.
  • Full recognition. We’ll credit you as the creator on all menus and promotional materials.
