Kotchakorn Voraakhom: Porous Cities

ECO PAVILLION

In the Thai floods of 2011, landscape architect Kotchakorn Voraakhom was among the millions displaced from home. The Bangkok native saw an opportunity to redesign her sprawling megacity—to protect against climate change and over-development. With her landscape design studio, Landprocess, Kotchakorn created Chulalongkorn Centenary Park: a public space in the city centre that doubles as a water retention facility. Now, her ideas are being brought to other vulnerable communities through a social enterprise she founded called Porous City Network.
