Making a global stand for wildlife and our future

17 Nov 2020 at 7pm

The Wild Card Event is an online experience broadcast via Facebook and Instagram on 17 Nov 2020 at 7pm (GMT+7).
Featuring live music, talks, and films, the free event sparks thought and discussion on behalf of wildlife.
This is our chance to make noise about wildlife trafficking, and how we got to this unprecedented global crisis.

We need to do something

Endangered species are being trafficked for human consumption—destroying ecosystems and spreading disease. The Wild Card Project is our response. We’ve assembled a global collective of activists, academics, and artists for a series of events and shows that send the loudest possible message and help protect animals from extinction.

Our panelists

Dr. David Olson

WWF-Hong Kong

David has worked on conservation projects in more than 50 countries, and served as director for several conservation science and field conservation programmes around the world, including in his previous posting as Country Director of the Zoological Society of London in Cameroon.

Steven Galster

Freeland/End Pandemics

Since 1987, Steven has planned and participated in investigations and remedial programs to stop wildlife trafficking, human trafficking, and corruption in Asia, Africa, Russia, and the USA. He currently serves as International Chair of Freeland, a counter-trafficking group.

Dr. Jan Schmidt

World Animal Protection

Jan is an experienced wildlife veterinarian, working as Head of Wildlife and Animal Welfare Research for World Animal Protection. His work includes a diverse range of topics, such as the trade of elephants, bears, civets and other animals.

Dada Bacudo

Moderator

Live Music

Hania Rani

Hania Rani is a pianist, composer and musician who splits her life between Warsaw, where she makes her home, and Berlin where she studied and often works. Her compositions for solo piano were born out of a fascination with the piano as an instrument, and her desire to interpret its sound and harmonic possibilities in their entirety and in her own way.

The Wild Card short film

Premiering an all-new film, following the difficult lives of trafficked species using a unique mix of traditional shadow theater and animation techniques from the artistic collective Fossick Project. Illustration and live animation by Cecilia Valagussa, soundtracked by original music produced by Marta Del Grandi and celebrated producer Howie B.

The Wild Card Show

The Wild Card Show is a 45-60 minute live show, touring venues and festivals through 2021-22. The Show will be a live stage adaptation of the Wild Card short film, performed by the artists. Catch the live show premiere at Moobaan Wonder.
