Mevlevi Sema

For our tenth edition, we’re bringing an ancient tradition from Konya, Turkey to The Fields. Join us for a performance that draws on the practices of whirling dervishes, members of the Mevlevi Sufi order founded by the followers of 13th-century Persian poet Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi. Sema is a ritual dance, a physically active meditation and spiritual ceremony that symbolizes the soul’s journey toward divine love and unity with God.
