‘Music for Rest Rooms’ features renowned Japanese ambient music pioneer, Yumiko Morioka. The piece began as an exploration of spaces of peace and comfort around Yumiko’s home in the wilderness of Gunma Prefecture, Japan. These simple ideas were developed into music that fuses piano textures and sampling-based production, evoking a series of memories, each a time, place, feeling and scent—providing room for rest and personal reflection.
This installation is part of the Sound Mind program for 2025.
